Last night, we held the official Opening Ceremony to Darkness to Daylight 2022 with some of our key sponsors and partners.

Darkness to Daylight 2022 celebrates our ninth year of coming together as a community to raise awareness and funds for domestic and family violence prevention.

We welcomed over 50 guests who attended the special event, which was held in MinterEllison’s Brisbane office. MinterEllison, a global law firm, has been our founding partner for over 20 years – with Robert Reed OAM, the Darkness to Daylight founder, their Special Counsel. We are so grateful for their ongoing support – and for Rob’s ceremonial opening of Darkness to Daylight 2022.

We were honoured to hear from speakers who shared powerful stories and rich insights into how we can galvanise our communities towards a world without domestic and family violence. It’s not easy and it’s not quick – but together, we can take steps to make a difference. Our speakers included Victoria Hepburn, MinterEllison’s Office Managing Partner (Brisbane); Member for Cooper Jonty Bush MP who was there on behalf of the Attorney General, Minister for Justice, Minister for Women and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence; and the Co-Chairs of the Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Council Vanessa Fowler OAM and Bob Atkinson OAM, together with our Challenge DV Chair Jane Hedger and Chief Executive Officer Jacque Lachmund. With huge thanks to Terry Hansen, KIIS973 host and long-term supporter, for being the evening’s marvellous MC.

The event was an opportunity to thank our amazing sponsors and partners for all their support in our shared journey to end domestic and family violence through Darkness to Daylight. These include the Queensland Government, Queensland Rail, Rio Tinto, Trident Services, Loans.com.au, Go1, QSuper, Unity Water and our media partners Network 10 and KISS973. Thanks to the Australian Army for your continued support on the ground at Darkness to Daylight year on year, and also EMSA who have joined us this year as our event management partner.
