The Respect Challenge – Building Respect Every Day
Challenge DV in partnership with Brisbane Roar FC
Respect is built every day — and it starts with us.
That’s why Challenge DV has teamed up with Brisbane Roar FC to launch The Respect Challenge.
The Respect Challenge is a fun, family-friendly way to build everyday habits of kindness, fairness and respect.
Inspired by the values we see through sports, this campaign invites families – and the wider Brisbane community – to take part in simple, practical activities that help kids (and parents!) understand what respect looks like; at home, at school, and in the community.
Why Respect Matters
Respect isn’t just about rules or good manners – it’s how we choose to treat each other every day.
Respect means:
Listening and being heard
Playing fair and sharing
Using words that build people up, not tear them down
Valuing differences and showing kindness
Team Huddle Talk
Just like the Brisbane Roar FC players huddle before a game, take a few minutes at dinner or before school to share:
One thing you respect about each team member
One way you will show respect today
Pass the Ball, Pass the Praise
Grab a ball and pass it around.
With each pass, share something you genuinely appreciate about the person – their effort, kindness, or teamwork.
Timeout for Feelings
When emotions run high, call a timeout. Take a breath, notice the feeling, and reset before continuing.
Post-Game Debrief
Reflect together:
What went well?
What was challenging?
How did you feel supported?
What could we do better next time?
